Privacy, in plain language.

1. Overview

Design Details is a curated design-reference gallery. You can browse the public gallery without creating an account. This policy explains what information the service receives, why it is used, and the choices available to you.

Design Details does not sell personal information and does not use personal information for third-party behavioral advertising.

2. Information we receive

Newsletter signups

If you join the mailing list, we collect your email address, subscription status, signup source, and the time the record was created or updated.

Website suggestions

If you submit a website, we store its public URL, domain, submission source, and review status. The submission form does not ask for your name or email address.

Basic service data

When you visit, our hosting and database providers may process standard request data such as IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps, and security or diagnostic logs. We use this data to deliver, protect, and troubleshoot the service.

Editor accounts

The current account system is limited to invited editors. For those accounts, we process an email address, authentication information managed by our authentication provider, role, and sign-in activity.

Browser storage

Design Details may use local browser storage for interface preferences and private editor tools. Local storage stays in that browser unless you clear it. Necessary authentication cookies are used for invited editors.

3. How we use information

• Operate, secure, and improve the gallery.
• Store and manage newsletter subscriptions and send the updates requested.
• Authenticate invited editors and protect private Studio tools.
• Investigate errors, abuse, security incidents, and availability problems.
• Comply with legal obligations and respond to valid rights or takedown requests.

Where applicable, processing is based on your consent, performance of a requested service, our legitimate interests in operating a secure editorial service, or a legal obligation. You can withdraw newsletter consent at any time.

4. Service providers and disclosure

Design Details uses service providers for application hosting and delivery, database and media storage, and invited-editor authentication. These providers process information on our behalf under their own contractual and security terms. An email delivery provider will receive only the data needed to send subscribed updates.

Information may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect the service or its users, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards. We do not give the subscriber list to website owners featured in the gallery.

5. Retention and security

Subscriber records are kept while a subscription is active. If you unsubscribe, we may retain the minimum record needed to honor that request and prevent accidental re-subscription. Editor account records are kept while access is required. Provider logs are retained according to provider settings and operational needs.

We use access controls, private server credentials, row-level database restrictions, and transport encryption. No system can promise absolute security, so we also limit the information collected.

Our service providers may operate internationally. Information may therefore be processed outside your country using the safeguards offered by those providers and required by applicable law.

6. Your choices and rights

You may unsubscribe from marketing email at any time. Depending on where you live, you may also ask to access, correct, delete, restrict, or export personal information, or object to certain processing. We may need to verify a request before acting on it.

The gallery is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Featured websites and captured media

The gallery contains editorial captures, metadata, and links relating to publicly accessible websites. These materials describe the featured work; they are not endorsements or ownership claims. Trademarks and original site content remain with their respective owners.

For internal analysis, we may privately retain the rendered page source, styles, layout measurements, and motion metadata associated with a capture. This evidence is used to maintain the gallery and its design taxonomy; it is not exposed as a public copy of the source website.

If you own or represent a featured website and want a URL corrected, attribution updated, or material removed, contact us with the page URL and enough information to verify the request. We will review valid requests promptly.

Links lead to independent websites with their own privacy practices. Design Details is not responsible for what those sites collect after you leave the gallery.

8. Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our data practices or providers materially change and revise the date above. If a change meaningfully affects subscribers, we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
